Farewell and thank you to Anita Lyons, National Partnerships and Events Manager.

It’s the end of an era for Anita Lyons, who is preparing to step down as our current National Partnerships and Events Manager this September. Anita has been an integral part of our organisation, and was one of AGDA National’s first employees in 2014. Prior to that, Anita worked with AGDA NSW as Regional Administrator.

Anita has played a key role in organising many events and initiatives on behalf of AGDA. Highlights include co-creating the successful women’s event Dames and Dumplings, with Josie Young and Em Sprouster, and establishing the NSW Junior Council. Over the years, she has hosted international speaker tours for Stefan Sagmeister, Veronica Fuerte - Hey Studio, Adam JK, Rob Duncan, Jessica Walsh, Craig Black and Troy Leinster (to name but a few), with Rob Self-Pierson from the Verb brand language tour passing on thanks for its success and “your warmth, your enthusiasm, your incredible attention to detail... your passion for AGDA and design.”

Anita has worked with Regional Awards Committees to stage our Annual Awards Ceremonies from 2014-2019 in TAS, NSW, SA, ACT, VIC, QLD, and has managed key partnerships from Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences, Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of QLD, Media Super, Adobe, Getty Images, Finn Roache Lawyers, The Commons, Sladen Legal, Peacock Bros, JMC Academy and Finsbury Green.

For Anita, one of the most satisfying aspects of her job has been the interaction with Regional Chairs, State Councillors and the many volunteers who work so hard to put on events for members and their local design community.

What an incredible adventure, with lifelong friendships forged along the way. Anita, on behalf of everyone involved in the Australian Design community and AGDA, thank you. We wish you all the best.
